Have you seen the November 12th opening of Saturday Night Live with Kate McKinnon performing a beautiful rendition of Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah? If not, check it out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BG-_ZDrypec:

The beautiful melody reminds us that we need to have faith and hope, even in the midst of living in a crazy world. McKinnon closes: “I’m not giving up. And neither should you.”

Whatever your political beliefs, we hope that you don’t give up either. Working together can be tough, but there’s ample evidence from history and the social sciences that we can succeed with the right leadership and vision and commitment.

Please consider helping us make a difference NOW. We can’t change our divisive politics easily, but DCTMI holds the promise of creating a model for the rest of the country. We can show that tens of thousands of community members can patiently work with kids around the city to transform education and create a vibrant and compassionate civic culture.

If you live in the DC area, sign up at http://www.dctutormentor.org/volunteer-sign-up/ or click on “Get Involved” and we will connect you to one of our 35 organizational partners. Even if you don’t have time to help every week, sign up to help us with the one-on-one canvassing that slowly but surely gets past our differences, indifference, cynicism, and “I’m to busy to get involved” mindset.

OUTSIDE THE DC AREA? We can help you build a movement in your community, too. Send an email to us at info@dcTutorMentor.org.
